I have recently collaborated with Dr Richard Hale in order to link my practice with his mentoring research, and together we have developed the Insight Coaching and Mentoring Programme. These books are based around nine lessons covering key materials, tools, models and exercises. The programme is validated by the Institute of Leadership & Management and is offered in conjunction with a Postgraduate Certificate in Coaching & Mentoring. Key to this programme is the way in which participants can use the materials in order to bring about personal change over a period of time; coaching and mentoring is just part of this process.

Dr Richard Hale
My early career involved the training and development functions with GEC, Marconi and British Sky Broadcasting. I have consulted with international organisations including Coca-Cola, Motorola, Esselte, Allied Domecq and Diageo. I piloted the leadership and development programmes with HBOS Financial Services, Lloyds TSB Asset Finance Division, Westbury Homes and Zurich Insurance. My research focused on the dynamics of mentoring and my publications include eight books covering subjects such as performance management, influencing and problem solving. I am also co-author of Keep Walking: Leadership Learning in Action with Alan Chambers, which links Alan’s North Pole expedition experience with leadership lessons for business. In 2008 I provided the base camp support and education role for the Feet of Green expedition, a crossing of Greenland by Alan Chambers and Peter Herbert; this was the largest educationally focused expedition and entailed the development of collaborative strategies with the education sector. My work and publications are widely used in business.
I have developed the new professional pathway for the outsourcing industry (National Outsourcing Association) and I am currently researching the subject of the development of new professions. I am also writing mentoring materials with Eileen Hutchinson based on my research for Middlesex University.
